A Cedar Rapids man is accused of holding an Iowa City woman and her three children at gunpoint.
According to Johnson County Sheriff's Office criminal complaints, 28-year-old Joel Zamora and another suspect entered a residence at the Breckenridge Estates mobile home park at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 5. Police said Zamora pointed a gun at the woman and asked where her money was located.
Police said the woman told Zamora to search her purse. While he did so, he allegedly pointed the gun toward her three children. Zamora took approximately $1,900 from the woman's purse, police said.
Police said Zamora then ordered the woman and her children into the bathroom, where he placed tape over the woman's mouth and taped her hands behind her back. Zamora ordered the children to count to 100 before leaving the bathroom.
Zamora has been arrested and faces charges of first-degree burglary, assault while participating in a felony and four counts of false imprisonment.
He remains in custody in the Johnson County Jail. His bond has not yet been set.
