The University of Northern Iowa made another big leap last season, becoming the only NCAA Division I wrestling team to go unbeaten in duals and finishing 15th at the national tournament.
The Panthers welcome four signees from the 2014 Class.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont state champion Tucker Black, Christian DuLaney, a two-time state finalist for Benilde-St. Margaret's in St. Louis Park, Minn., and state finalists Drew Foster, of Mediapolis, and Fort Madison's Bryce Meyer signed National Letters of Intent to wrestle for UNI Coach Doug Schwab next year.
Black was a two-time state medalist and three-time state qualifier, winning the class 1A 152-pound title with a 44-3 record in February. He finished fifth as a junior.
Foster was a three-time state medalist for Mediapolis, reaching the Class 2A 160-pound state finals as a senior. He holds Bulldog records with season wins (54) and fastest pin (six seconds).
Meyer advanced to the Class 3A state championship match earlier this season, placing second at 126 pounds. He finished third at 113 as a junior and was sixth at 106 as a sophomore.
DuLaney wrestled 220 pounds as a senior, competing at 182 as a junior. He placed second both seasons at the Minnesota State High School Championships.
UNI went 13-0 last season, capturing the Mid-American Conference dual title. The Panthers were second at the conference tournament and were 15th at the NCAA Championships for the second straight season. UNI had three All-Americans, including sixth-place 125-pounder Dylan Peters, who is the lone returning placewinner.
