Greenspace field day on July 13 in Jones County

A field day titled “Maximizing the Environmental Benefits of Your Greenspace” will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. July 13 at Country Ridge Estates on Fairview Road one-half mile West of Fairview.

Presentations include “Land Use Changes in Iowa and Iowa's Soils and Soil Mapping” by Mark Minger of the Natural Resource Conservation Service; “Selecting Tree Species to Maximize Environmental Benefits” by Karen Brook of Trees Forever; “Rain Gardens and Storm Water Management in a Rural Subdivision Setting” by Amy Brouska of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship; “The Living Roadways Trust and Iowa's Living Roadways” by Steve Holland of the Iowa Department of Transportation; “Integrated Roadside Management along County Road E-34” by Wes Gibbs of the Jones County Roads Department; Native Prairie Planting and Management in a Conservation Reserve Program Setting” by Rob Roman of the Linn County Roads Department; “Water Infiltration and Nutrient Cycling in both Ag and Urban Environments” by Matt Helmers of Iowa State University; and “Controlling Invasive Species” by Debbie Morton of Dow AgroSciences.
