Nine Hawkeyes ranked in TOM preseason poll

Practice has begun for NCAA Division I wrestling programs. The ranking of this year's individual field has started as well.

Theopenmat.com released its preseason individual rankings Wednesday. The University of Iowa has nine of 10 starters in the preseason poll. Iowa State has five wrestlers on the list. Three University of Northern Iowa Panthers made the initial list.

Hawkeye heavyweight Bobby Telford leads the way, sitting third. Fellow senior Mike Evans is fourth. Sophomore lightweight duo Thomas Gilman and Cory Clark are fifth at 125 an d 133, respectively.

Nathan Burak (197) is sixth, while Nick Moore is also ranked in the top-eight, holding the seventh spot at 165. Josh Dziewa (12th at 141, Brody Grothus (ninth at 149) and Sam Brooks (11th at 184) are also ranked.

Iowa State two-time All-Americans Mike Moreno and Kyven Gadson are ranked third at 165 and 197. Earl Hall is sixth, moving up to 133. Tanner Weatherman is eighth at 174. Lelund Weatherspoon is eighth at 184.

All-American Dylan Peters is ranked sixth at 125 for UNI. Cooper Moore (165) and Levi Wolfensperger (133) are ranked 11th and 13th, respectively.
