Harkin, Braley to raise funds for Loebsack campaign

Apr. 6, 2011 8:32 pm
Democratic 2nd District U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack is wasting no time ramping up his campaign in what might be Iowa's next 2nd District.
Loebsack will get a little help from his friends Sen. Tom Harkin and 1st District Rep. Bruce Braley at a brunch fundraiser May 14 in Bettendorf.
Bettendorf is in Braley's district; but if the Iowa Legislature approves the redistricting plan drawn by the non-partisan Legislative Services Agency, it will be in an open district. Loebsack, who lives in Mount Vernon, which would be in the new 1st District, plans to run in the open district.
The fundraiser, hosted by Mike Liebbe and Bev Strayhall, will be from 10 a.m. to noon at United Steel Workers Local, 105 880 Devils Glen Rd., Bettendorf. Tickets are $100 to$ 250. Freewill donations will be accepted. RSVP to Brian Fritsch at (319) 432-8503 or brian@loebsackforcongress.org.
