Linn County Supervisor Brent Oleson, R-Marion, has officially announced his bid for a second term.
In a statement released today, Oleson cited support for county conservation and recreational projects and his work on the county's flood recovery, emphasizing the county's "Build Local" policy.
"It has been rewarding to see the fruits of those labors pay off, with a new sheriff's office, expanded jail and correctional facility, a brand new Juvenile Justice Center, a new community services building, an expansion of the Wickiup Outdoor Learning Center and Conservation Department headquarters, and the near-completion of the Jean Oxley Public Administration building, all under budget and with local labor," Oleson wrote.
Oleson wrote he's been "a tireless advocate for parks, trails, and conservation efforts which places those Linn County parks and trails among the most premier in Iowa."
Oleson, 41, of Marion, represents the county's District 4, which covers Marion, Bertram, Central City, and surrounding rural areas.
Oleson is one of three supervisors whose terms end this year. Brent Oleson, R-Marion, in District 4, has filed for re-election, but Linda Langston, D-Cedar Rapids, in District 2, hasn't yet.
The supervisors' salary will be $74,363 in the fiscal year starting July 1.
