Mar. 11, 2015 5:56 pm
The University of Iowa will have a full lineup at the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships next week.
Hawkeye seniors Mike Kelly and Nick Moore received at-large bids announced by the NCAA Wednesday. Kelly and Moore were the only Iowa wrestlers who did not earn automatic bids at last weekend's Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
Moore, a two-time NCAA qualifier, placed ninth at the conference tournament at 165 pounds. He is 22-9.
Kelly will make his first national tournament appearance, joining the 157-pound field after getting ninth at the conference tournament. Kelly is 23-10.
Iowa State had seven at-large qualifiers, since the Big 12 did not have an official qualifying tournament. Earl Hall (133), Dante Rodriguez (141), Gabe Moreno (149), Tanner Weatherman at 174, 184-pound Lelund Weatherspoon and two-time All-Americans Michael Moreno (165) and Kyven Gadson (197) will compete at the national tournament.
University of Northern Iowa, which placed 15th each of the last two seasons, did not receive an at-large bid. Dylan Peters (125), Cooper Moore (165), Basil Minto at 197 and heavyweight Blaize Cabell, a former Independence prep, earned automatic bids.
The national tournament is set for March 19-21 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.
