#oniowapod — Decommit from turkey? Are you mad? OK, that one time ...

Land of Ten's Scott Dochterman and I went around the world on the rash of decommitments that have hit the Hawkeyes' 2017 recruiting class.
Scott broke the seal with head coach Kirk Ferentz yesterday asking if the 'no visit' policy for Iowa commits is hypocritical when Iowa continues to recruit and offers prospects who've committed to other schools.
Texas WR Gavin Holmes was the trigger on this, but the 'no visits' policy has been mentioned by four of the five recruits who've dropped Iowa. Holmes, in a Twitter note, said the policy didn't sit well, particularly with Texas RB Eno Benjamin, who committed to Iowa and then took visits to Missouri and Arizona State.
It's murky, to say the least. I asked Ferentz if he could recall the 'no visits' policy ever receiving this much attention? Frankly, I've covered all 18 of Ferentz's seasons and this policy has been in place for a good chunk of that. I remember one commit losing his Iowa schollie over this (a LB from Illinois who visited Wisconsin).
We go over this thoroughly. Scott thinks Iowa is in trouble as far as recruiting rep, as in where do they go to find players? How do they outrun this? I do believe it's hypocritical and that Ferentz needs to try to remove his emotion attached to the question and give it clarity.
We talked about other stuff.
Twitter friend Paul is talking up Scott for Iowa offensive coordinator. (Hey, I said lots of LeShun Daniels last week, too!!! Clearly, I'm more defensive. Get it? Nah? OK.)
Longtime Twitter friend Ross is down on Brian Ferentz as OC. (Lots of Twitter friends have moved past Greg Davis. Like a lot a lot. Feldy!)
Twitter friend Craig maybe got in the question of the night: 'Over under two different coaches on the staff next year?' (You'll have to listen for the answer, I'm not just giving it away!)
Twitter friend Iowist asked about DJK's take on Eno.
Twitter friend Boyd_VP asked if Holmes' take on Iowa's offense causes changes in February. (We were a strong 'no' on this. A WR who commits to Iowa has to know what he's getting into. It's not a spread, it says so right in the brochure.)
Twitter friend Douglas hit us between the eyes with this one:
'Have you ever decommitted from turkey for Thanksgiving?'
Fair question. I think Thanksgiving rankings are crap.
