Woodson, Harlene R.
Harlene R. Woodson, 73, of 430 21st St. NE, Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband, James; two daughters, Sherri Woodson and her fiance, Len of Des Moines, and Julie Woodson and her partner Pam of Cedar Hills, Texas; two sons, Scott and Jay, both of Little Rock, Ark.; and a brother, Robert (Susie) Berry of Des Moines.
She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kayla, Zach and Sydney.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a half brother, Frank.
Harlene was born on June 15, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harley and Fern Hess Berry. She married James H. Woodson on Oct. 23, 1955, in Marion. Harlene worked at Killian's and later at Armstrong's Department Store for several years until its closing. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed going to the casino, computer games, collecting antiques with her husband Jim, and especially the time she spent with her beloved family and friends.
Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous or to St. Luke's Hospice in Harlene's name.
