CEDAR RAPIDS - Police have identified the driver of the vehicle that struck a home on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids Sunday morning, causing a gas leak.
James Carnahan, 50, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday after being taken to a nearby hospital Sunday, police said.
Carnahan had a medical emergency, which caused him to lose consciousness and lose control of the vehicle he had been driving, said Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow.
Cedar Rapids police responded to the 4300 block of Midway Drive NW at 9:38 a.m. Sunday for a report of an incident where a vehicle had struck a house.
The house's occupants and neighbors were briefly evacuated after the crash caused a gas leak, according to authorities. No other injuries were reported.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department assisted with the crash and the gas leak.
