COGGON - The Linn County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man in connection with a stolen vehicle and crash late last month.
On July 26, a car was stolen from a home on Otis Road. The next day, deputies said they were involved in a chase with the missing vehicle. The driver - identified as 23-year-old Kristofer Miller - wrecked the car on Bridgeout Road, where it meets the Wapsipinicon River northwest of Waubeek.
'He ditched the car, literally and figuratively,” said Sheriff Brian Gardner.
Gardner said authorities believe Miller made his way across the Wapsipinicon and then stole a pickup from an address on Downhill Road.
'We'd been looking for him since,” Gardner said. 'We were able to gather some evidence which indicated he was the person in the vehicle we were chasing.”
Miller remains in custody at the Linn County Jail on two counts of second-degree theft, as well as charges of attempting to elude, interference with official acts and traffic offenses.
The case remains under investigation, authorities said.
