Voter impersonation is a real threat, not a ‘fairy tale’

I tried to walk away from your Oct. 5 editorial several times until I finally decided to confront your (sorry) stupid position that: 'The 2017 Iowa Voting Reform Act is a law aimed at solving a problem that's virtually non-existent. Voter fraud through impersonation is exceedingly rare and hardly an issue …. A fairy tale issue.”

If a person is, in fact, a legal citizen, there should be no undo burden placed in their right to vote. A person who is not a legal citizen has no right to vote to affect governance of a state or a country if they are not a citizen of that state or country.

Voter fraud through impersonation (think identity theft, dead people voting and more voters on the registers than there actually are) is frequent and is a very real threat to our towns and cities. I think this is one of the reasons for the 'starred” driver's license.

Many have died, defending the policies and freedoms of our state and country. Illegals with no right to vote, or people with fraud in their hearts, should not be allowed to vote, at all, nor allowed to vote repeatedly to change the way a majority of legitimate Iowa citizens feel the state should be run.

If a person is not a natural-born citizen of Iowa, they should be required to go through the process of naturalization and then assume the real burden of voting for the betterment of our state.
