The Iowa Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Thursday on a construction preservation zone along the proposed Mount Vernon-Lisbon bypass on Highway 30.
The hearing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mount Vernon High School.
The bypass project to create a new Highway 30 was taken out of the state's five-year highway plan in 2001 because of a change in Iowa's highway funding priorities.
The Corridor Preservation Zone took effect June 24 and requires local governments with jurisdiction over planning matters in the zone allow the DOT to review building permit applications over $25,000, proposed rezonings or proposed subdivision plats in the area.
