Ken was born Oct. 22, 1934, on the family farm near Atkins, Iowa, to George and Emma (Daleske) Krug. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in rural Atkins and graduated from Atkins High School in 1952. He served his country in the Army Reserves for six years. Ken married Ann McClintock on Sept. 16, 1956, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Ken farmed his entire life in the Atkins area. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder and was a member of the cemetery board.
Ken was active in his community and served as a board member and president of the Atkins Telephone Co. Ken and Ann enjoyed playing cards in a number of card clubs throughout their married life. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed watching baseball and basketball on television. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
