A University of Iowa student said she was sexually assaulted by three men on Jan. 27.
According to UI officials, the student told university staff she was walking along the west bank of the Iowa River near the railroad tunnel by the arts campus when she was approached by three college-aged men. The three men sexually assaulted her, according to the university. The incident was reported to police on Tuesday, university officials said in a news release.
The woman described the alleged assailants as two 'large,' white men and another man described as 'mixed race' or possible Hispanic. One of the men was wearing a Hawkeye sweatshirt, according to the university.
It's at least the eighth sexual assault reported on or near the UI campus since August, officials say.
