2020 resolution: Expanding opportunities for children to play

We resolve to be fierce advocates for the important 'work” of childhood - play!
When kids are encouraged to imagine, create, discover and explore through play, we know that they build healthier bodies and minds. In the year ahead, The Iowa Children's Museum will continue to provide an opportunity for high-quality, informal learning opportunities for all children and families throughout ICR!
We resolve to use our learning laboratory at Coral Ridge Mall as a safe, warm and welcoming space. Through various free admission events, outreach initiatives and our free membership program, we will remove barriers to accessing our space and celebrate the diversity of our community. Furthermore, we will remind adults that you're never too old to play - that one's play habits are a critical determinant of health!
In partnership with organizations throughout Eastern Iowa, we resolve to increase access to family-friendly activities and create programs that build stronger relationships and strengthen community bonds. To that end, by mid-2020, The Iowa Children's Museum will launch a free all-ages, all-seasons exhibit in Iowa City's Pedestrian Mall. Stay tuned!
As we expand our work (and play), we will do our part to help make this special region even greater than it is today!
