A highly intoxicated North Liberty man is accused of urinating on books in the North Liberty Public Library.
North Liberty police were called to the library at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a drunk subject. Police located 29-year-old Daniel M. Tallman in the library just as he was urinating on a bookshelf, police said.
Police said Tallman had trouble standing and walking and had urinated on himself. A breath test indicated Tallman had a blood-alcohol content of .338 percent, more than four times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle.
Tallman was arrested and charged with public intoxication - third of subsequent offense and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Police said Tallman has four prior public intoxication convictions. The books damaged by Tallman were valued at $250.
