Officials at the University of Iowa in Iowa City say they plan to close one apartment complex and are looking at options for a second apartment complex.
Von Stange is assistant vice president for student services and director of university housing and dining. Stange says the school is "looking at an exit strategy to get out of the apartments." The university is to close Hawkeye Court apartments within five years and is considering options for its Hawkeye Drive apartments.
Together the two complexes have 604 units. The university also has 53 apartments at Parklawn Hall, which is to be converted to a residence hall.
Stange says the apartments largely attract graduate and professional students, international students and students with families.
