Power has been restored after University of Iowa crews worked this afternoon on a power outage to four campus buildings caused by equipment failure.
The power outage was caused by the failure of a splice in electrical cables located in underground tunnels near Madison Street on campus. Power was out this afternoon to Jessup and Calvin Halls, the Chemistry Building and the President's Residence, UI spokesman Tom Moore said. Electrical service should be restored by 3 p.m., he said.
Because of the power outage, two people were trapped in an elevator in the Chemistry Building for about 20 to 30 minutes, Moore said.
