The State Historical Society of Iowa has several award opportunities open to recognize individuals, communities and organizations that make contributions to Iowa's history, according to a release. The historical society Board of Trustees is looking for nominations for the Loren Horton Community History Award, the William J. Petersen/Edgar R. Harlan award and the George Mills/Louise Noun Popular History Award. Nominations should be postmarked by Feb. 1, 2014.
