Union announces endorsements for Cedar Rapids, Iowa City area elections

The Hawkeye Area Labor Council has announced its endorsements for local elections in Eastern Iowa.

Election Day is Nov. 5.

In-person early voting began on Monday and continues through 5 p.m. Nov. 4. Absentee ballot request forms must be received in county auditor offices by 5 p.m. Oct. 25.

Among the labor council's endorsements are:

City Council

' Cedar Rapids: Pat Loeffler and Ann Poe, at-large; and Scott Olson, District 4.

' Iowa City: Megan Alter and Janice Weiner, at-large; Pauline Taylor, District A; and John Thomas, District C.

' North Liberty: RaQuishia Harrington, at-large.

SCHOOL BOARD

' Cedar Rapids: Cindy Garlock, at-large; David Tominsky, District 1; and Dexter Merschbrock, District 4.

' Linn-Mar: LaSheila Yates, at-large.

' Iowa City: Charlie Eastham, at-large.

' Center Point: Cory Vaupel, at-large.
