CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel in 2013.
Christopher D. Taylor, 32, pleaded in January to third-degree sexual abuse. He admitted to sexually abusing a woman who was incapable of or unable to give her consent on Aug. 28, 2013, at the Aspen Hotel, 3233 Southgate Drive SW.
Sixth Judicial District Judge Christopher Bruns sentenced Taylor to the mandatory 10 years in prison, a $1,000 fine and restitution to be determined later. The judge also added a five-year order barring Taylor from contacting the victim.
Taylor also will have a special sentence of lifetime parole following his prison time, because the case involves a sex offense. Taylor will also have to register as a sex offender.
As part of the plea agreement, Assistant Linn County Attorney Nic Scott dismissed two other charges - false use of a credit card and being a habitual offender.
Taylor has previous convictions for second-degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
