Tripping through my Active folder...

To build on a post about finding photographic surprises in the archive that Liz put up a few days ago...
I dug this photo out of my temporary folder on one of the server at The Gazette. It was a photo I shot back in 2004 as part of the photo staff's proposal for a weekly photo column that would have appeared in The Gazette. I don't even remember what we were going to call the column. In a staff meeting, we hashed out a list of concepts that the staff could research and illustrate to get the column started. This particular concept was "Grace".
As the saying goes..."News Happens" and the idea of a photo column slowly died out without ever having got off the ground. It's nice to be able to give new life to a photo that's been languishing in a digital limbo for four and a half years.
Every time I come across this photo, it makes me wonder what became of the dancer Stephanie Pace. Did she continue with her dance studies?

I've admired Harvey Edwards' artful photographs of dancers since I was in high school. He was able to find images of grace away from the well-rehearsed performances. Here, Stephanie Pace, 17, of Cedar Rapids warms-up with other dancers during a rehearsal at Dance of Iowa North on Aug. 26, 2004, in Cedar Rapids.
