Carol Ann Ballard was born Feb. 4, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of William Dean and Louine Rose (Schwab) Dietze. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1962 and later the Sharon Doran School of Cosmetology. On June 16, 1962, Carol was united in marriage to Chester Kenneth Ballard in North English. She worked at Amana, Shellers UTA, Lear Corp. and was a hairdresser with Mary Ann McKenna. Carol was a member of the North English United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing, puzzles and the computer. Carol died on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo, at the age of 77 years.
She is survived by her husband, Chester of North English; two sons, Dennis Ballard and Donnie (Brenda) Ballard; three grandsons, Brian (Chelsey) Ballard, Kevin Ballard and Shawn (Rachael) Ballard; three great-grandsons, Jaxon, Chase and Kash Ballard; a sister, Kay (Levi) Williams of Williamsburg; and a sister-in-law, Sherry Dietze of Marengo. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jim (Jane) Dietze, Gerald (Cheryl) Dietze and Ron Dietze.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
