Hats off to teacher parades

It might be a symptom of my old age of 72, but these days I have a tendency to experience tears in my eyes when watching a movie with a happy ending or looking at some videos of my grandchildren. Some times the tears overflow a bit and go running down my cheeks. I used to be more macho.

Anyway, I had that experience recently when reading the article about those teachers doing the drive-by 'parades.” Teachers saying they miss their students and writing about their love for them on the side of their cars was heart-rending. I also saw some signs written by the students saying they love their teachers. Wow. Tears.

My daughter's kids in Cedar Falls were also treated to a drive by from teachers in their school; and I can tell you it made a big impression. Hats off to all those teachers!
