Iowa City’s Paul top Iowan at Boston Marathon

Charlie Paul of Iowa City was the top Iowan at Monday's Boston Marathon, covering the 26.2-mile course in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 41 seconds.

The 25-year-old Paul, who averaged 5:36 per mile, finished 53rd overall, 47 among the men and 43 in his age group.

Six other runners also broke the three-hour barrier - Mark Thompson and Jim Bethea of Iowa City, Nate Canton of North Liberty, Cary Richey of Cedar Rapids, Ryan Schafbuch of Belle Plaine and Tyler Husak of Marion,

Heidi Skildum of Decorah was the top Eastern Iowa woman, finishing in 3:06:58. She placed 288th among the women.
