Auditors shouldn’t send filled in request forms

I agree with recent guest columnist Alan Ostergren that county auditors should not be able to send absentee ballot requests with the personal information of the voter filled out.
I knocked on many doors in Swisher in Johnson County in the 2020 election. We had an app that gave us information from the official voter registration database. I was struck by how many households had as many as 6 or 7 registered voters. When I looked at the names it was pretty clear that there were 2 families, and often 2 generations of each family, listed. No big mystery, one of the families had moved and not yet updated their registrations.
If the auditor is able to send ballot requests with personal info all filled out, the people who actually do live there could potentially vote for the others, swiping their votes. Most people would not think of doing that, but why take the chance?
