WILLIAM "BUTCH" LOFTUS

William "Butch" Loftus, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesdayz, March 31, 2021, in his home. Services: Private. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Inurnment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks or shields is required.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Jan; his children, Bradley Loftus of Marion, Iowa, Mindy (David) Karr of Overland Park, Kan., Kristy Loftus of Phoenix, Ariz., Randy Loftus of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brad (Renee) Voss of Des Moines, Iowa, Gregg Voss of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Eric (Gena) Voss of Mount Vernon, Iowa; former wife, Judith Loftus of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Carissa (Brent) Votrobec, Kersten (Codi) Sayenko, Kailee Karr, Kyle Voss, Dustin Voss, Emma Gardwood and Caroline Voss; and great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Mason, Karra, Kaydence and Ember. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Whitney Voss; a brother, Doug Loftus; and sisters, Mary Jo Loftus and Susie Lynch.
William was born Oct. 16, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Ward and Betty Loftus. He was an all-state football player at Tama High School and went on to play football for Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He married Janice Voss on March 31, 1983, in Las Vegas, Nev. William worked for Wilson/Farmstead for 28 years and was an independent insurance agent following that. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Elks, and TKE alumni association.
