Best Bets: ‘Swan Lake’ from Russian Ballet Theatre at Paramount Theatre

Russian Ballet Theatre is touring a new production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's first ballet, written in 1876. Based on Russian and German folk tales, 'Swan Lake” tells the tragic love story of Prince Siegfried and the Swan Princess, Odette, who is cursed to be a swan by day but a young woman at night. Choreographer Nadezhda Kalinina has retouched the oldest St. Petersburg version of this ballet, adding her own vision to this timeless classic. In addition to special effects makeup, the lavish production features new, hand-painted sets and 150 new, hand-sewn costumes.
