Area Scores Roundup: Maq Valley, Monticello, BGM and Mediapolis win openers

Ryan Parmely rushed for 280 yards and scored three touchdowns as Maquoketa Valley opened the high school football season with a 28-14 win over Starmont last night. Parmley's total included a 65-yard run for a score at Arlington. Jake Butler had 30 carries and 201 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Starmont.

MONTICELLO 28, ANAMOSA 0 — Tanner Felton and Cody Jamison combined for 234 yards as the Panthers rolled to a win at Anamosa. Felton rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and Felton, the quarterback, added 109 yards and a TD on 15 rushes. Gavin Timp rushed for 41 yards on nine carries for the Raiders. — Peter Temple, correspondent

BGM 77, EAST MARSHALL 22 — BGM senior running back Jack Kline scored eight touchdowns to lead the Bears to a season-opening win at East Marshall. Kline scored on four punt returns and had three rushing and one receiving TDs — all in the first half. He did not play the second half.

MEDIAPOLIS 35, LONE TREE 3 — Drew Foster passed for 167 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mediapolis. Lone Tree's Jared Hudson rushed for 89 yards on 27 carries.
