Slight majority of Iowans opposed to traffic cameras
A slight majority of those polled are against the use of cameras to enforce Iowa traffic laws.
The latest Iowa Poll by The Des Moines Register says 50 percent favored a ban on red-light cameras, compared with 46 percent who oppose a ban. And 51 percent of those polled favored a ban on traffic-enforcement cameras that take pictures of speeders, compared with 47 percent who oppose a ban on the cameras.
A bill that would outlaw automated cameras to enforce traffic laws is under consideration in the Iowa Legislature.
The latest Iowa Poll was conducted Feb. 12 to 15 by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines. It surveyed 800 Iowa adults with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
