Is this America?

I spent 27 years on active duty in the U.S. military defending the Constitution. Today, I can't believe my eyes. Protesters have stormed the U.S. Capitol. Tear gas has been employed. Gun shots have been heard as senators and representatives are seeking safe harbor. This is true insanity.
Our outgoing President has poured fuel over our democracy and his tweets have provided the spark to light the flames we're seeing in Washington, D.C.
Trump has ignored reality. He has made unfounded claims. He has filed bogus legal cases despite no evidence. He has made illegal calls to state lawmakers in attempt to overthrow legally cast votes. He has attacked member of our own party.
It has all culminated in today's madness. Trump's lies, backed by the right wing media's echo chamber, has caused an insurrection never before seen in America.
This moment will be recorded in history. History will remember Trump and his enablers in Congress who allowed a coup to be staged. It is a truly a sad time for democracy and a sorrowful day for America.
