Write IUB to oppose Bakken pipeline

To the editor:
I'm urging all readers in Iowa, who, like myself, oppose the Bakken Pipeline being built across Iowa, to write the Iowa Utilities Board in Des Moines. They soon will be deciding whether to grant usage of eminent domain to do this.
This pipeline is for a private company's profit not benefiting Iowans. Our state flag states 'Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain.” Private property should not be taken or used without the owner's consent.
Environmentally, a pipeline can disturb and compact soil in bad ways. There's a very real chance of a disastrous oil spill. Also, there would be habitat destruction of various life species.
We need to value our farmland, our creator's gift, and the caretakers of it. Their rights should not be trampled on.
