CEDAR RAPIDS — Washington High School announced the resignation of Frank Scherrman as the girls' track and field coach Wednesday.
Scherrman will remain at Washington as a teacher and assistant football coach. A search has begun to find his replacement.
Washington Athletics Director Grant Schultz said, 'Frank has been a terrific leader for our (girls') track program over the last 15 seasons. We are fortunate to have him remain on staff as a teacher and assistant football coach as he is highly respected and valuable member of our faculty.'
Scherrman led Washington to Mississippi Valley Conference championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
