Miller inducted into track Hall

DES MOINES -- Fifteen-time state champion Ashley Miller of Tipton is among three girls that wuill be inducted into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's Track and Field Hall of Fame Saturday afternoon.
A 2007 graduate from Tipton High School, Miller is the most decorated track athlete in Iowa girls track and field history. Miller won four state crowns her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and was never beaten at state.
The 800 meters was her signature race, becoming just the third prep to win the event four times. She owns the Class 2A state record in the 800 and ranks eighth on the all-time list with a time of 2:10.10. She also captured three 800 titles at the Drake Relays.
In addition to her four wins in the 800, Miller anchored four distance medley, two 1,600-meter relays and two 3,200 relays to state titles and also won individual titles in the 400 and 1500 meters. Tipton won the Class 2A team title all four years Miller competed.
Miller was a two-time Class 2A individual champion in cross country and an all-state basketball player and was the 2007 Gazette Female Athlete of the Year.
Miller is finishing a standout career at the University of Nebraksa. A three-time first team academic all-conference performer, she is a four-time conference champion for the Cornhuskers, winning the 1500 meter Big 12 Conference title as a junior, then capturing the Big Ten Conference 3000 meter indoor crown this winter in school record time.
She will be joined by Jenna Caffrey of Burlington and Dani Stipe of Carroll Kuemper.
