Will Harte named girls’ track coach at Cedar Rapids Washington

CEDAR RAPIDS — Will Harte has been named the new girls' track and field coach at Cedar Rapids Washington, pending school board approval.

Harte succeeds longtime coach Frank Scherrman, who resigned last spring, and becomes the eighth head coach in Washington's 48-year history of girls' track and field.

'Will has great passion and knowledge of track and field, which will help him provide positive and successful experiences for our athletes,' Washington Athletics Director Grant Schultz said.

Harte has served as a Russian and math teacher at Washington since 2001, and has been the head coach of the boys' cross country program since 2006. He has guided seven teams to top-10 finishes at state.
