Work should be more profitable than panhandling

When you drive around Iowa City, you often see people standing in the middle of intersections with a sign asking for help. The saddest part is, if these people collected a couple of $5 bills in the course of an hour from passing motorists, they have earned more than a person employed in a productive job, earning minimum wage.
If the minimum wage is raised, it will be passed on to the consumers and they will still buy. Our society will be better for all, when few have too much and fewer have too little.
