CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Ice Arena is home to a type of roar that not even the loudest crowds could replicate.
It's the roar of granite stones gliding across the ice.
Curling requires the precision of a golfer reading the greens at Augusta. It provides the clutch moments found in Game 7 of a playoff. Curling does all of this and more, while remaining simple enough to enjoy with family and friends.
Curling Night in Cedar Rapids is the perfect opportunity for anyone to attempt this Olympic sport. On Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m., potential curlers can come and try the sport at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
If interested, you can register here.
Cost is $10 per person, but is free for preregistered students who have a school ID. For more information, click here.
This is a great opportunity to try the sport, have fun with family and friends and, most importantly, to learn to curl.
Anthony Zangerle and Jim Archambeau of Cedar Rapids brush ahead of the stone during Cedar Rapids Curling Club's match against Broadmoor at the USA Curling Arena National Championships at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in July. A 'Curling Night' is scheduled for Tuesday at the arena. (The Gazette)
