SOMERSAULTS' JONES EARNS STATE MEDALS
Ellie Jones of the Somersaults Gymnastic Center earned second- and third-place medals at the Junior Olympic state tournament last weekend in Sioux City.
Weig, in Level 4 senior D division, placed second on the bars and third in the all around. Lindsey Weig was second in the floor exercise in the same division.
Teammate Laura Swart placed third on the floor in the Level 4 senior B group.
Other placewinners were Aniyah Lederle and Natalie Wade in Level 3, Paige Hacke and Ashley Lappin in Level 4.
Isabel Hawker won four events at the Flip for Food Invitational last month in Iowa City.
Competing in Xcel Silver, she won the vault, bars, beam and all around. Ava Christensen won the vault and bars and Hannah Brandt the bars, also in Xcel Silver, where Somersaults finished second.
In Xcel Gold, Bailey Davis, Alexus Jarchow and Logan Kalous all were winners.
The Level 4 team placed third at CRAG's Jingle Bell Gymboree, led by Laura Swart, Ashley Lappin, Lindsey Weig and Ellie Jones.
TWISTERS' KLESNER WINS 4 TITLES
Kelsey Klesner of Twisters Gymnastics captured four events at the Iowa Compulsory championships last weekend.
Competing in Level 3, Klesner won the bars, beam, floor exercise and all around.
Teammate Lacey Neighbor, in Level 5, took home three gold medals, winning the vault, bars and all around.
Other Twisters winners were Sydney Huber (floor) in Level 3; Payton Basquin (bars) and McKenna Haugen (bars) in Level 4; and Reese Wilson (floor), Elizabeth Tanner (beam) and Reese Miller (beam) in Level 5.
Other placewinners were Evalee Netz, Kinley Claypool and Shandin Gilbert in Level 3; Ava Van Berkum, Alyssa Niemeier, Kylie Link, Peyton Krotz and Addison Jun in Level 4; and Amera Nakurutimana and Elyssa MacCormick in Level 5,: 3rd bars and 3rd beam.
5 GOLD MEDALS FOR CRAG'S KIESEY
Megan Kiesey of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won five events last weekend at the Iowa Compulsory championships.
Kiesey, in Level 3, won the vault, bars, beam, floor exercise and all around. Autumn Poston, in Level 4, captured four events (vault, beam, floor and all around) and Anna Weaver and Lexie Goldsmith, both in Level 4, were triple winners. Weaver won the bars, beam and floor, Goldsmith the vault, floor and all around. Maanasa Chinnakonda (floor and all around) and Hailey Hakes (bars and all around) were double winners in Level 5.
Other CRAG winners were Lillian Lu (beam) in Level 3, Kylie Henry (beam) in Level 4 and Ava Andrews (floor) in Level 4.
Kennedy Ward, Asia Russell, Mackenzie Avery in Level 3, Jaeden Humphries, Shea Johnson and Madilyn Tumilty in Level 4, and Sidney Davidson and Hailey Hakes in Level 5 were top-three placewinners.
