Ava Christensen leads Somersaults to gymnastics title

HIAWATHA - Ava Christensen of Somersaults won three events at the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics' Leapin' Leprechaun meet last weekend.

Christensen won the vault, bars and all around in Xcel Silver, helping her team to the title. Ava Blue (floor exercise, all around) and Faith Ehle (vault, bars) contributed to the team title with a pair of wins, and Addilyn Wade (floor), Sophia Bunch (bars), Natalie Osterberg (floor), Isabel Hawker (bars), Annie Haars (vault), Kate Rogers (all around) and Isabelle Howsare (bars) also won titles. Kianna Davis, Raivyn Rogers, Bailey Hakert, Faye Wade, Mia Frame and Aubrey Langton were a top-three placewinner.

Somersaults placed fourth in Gold, getting a pair of wins from Logan Kalous (vault, floor) and a win Bailey Davis (floor). Maya Shelangoski, Megan Schulte, Grace Prull and Clare Swanson were placewinners.

Bronze division placewinners for Somersaults were Emeri Hill, Carly Cronbaugh and Alyssa Jarchow.

CRILLEY, NOLTING POWER TWISTERS

HIAWATHA - Leah Crilley and Sarah Nolting of Cedar Rapids Twisters won three events at the Leapin' Leprechaun meet hosted by the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics last weekend.

Crilley, in Xcel Gold, won the vault, beam and all-around, helping her team to a third-place finish. Nolting captured the bars, beam and all around, leading her team to the Diamond team title.

Avery Basquin (floor exercise, all around) in Silver, Gabby Kroeze (floor, all around) in Platinum and Skylar Meyers (vault, floor) in Diamond were double winners. Twisters also won the Platinum team title.

Other winners were Eve Hansen (floor) and Lauren Carnahan (all around) in Silver; Jasmine Hartney (vault), Abby Green (beam), Allie Long (floor) and Kaitlin Hotchkiss (floor) in Gold; Blair Pladsen (bars) and Anna Cater (beam) in Platinum; and Aliyah Burtis (vault) in Diamond.

Other Twisters placewinners were Aubrey Sires, Harper Flannagan, Katelyn Callahan, Loralei Wilson, Meghan Burtis and Larissa Cleveland in Silver; Rebecca Hein, Audrey Leno, Madison Marcus, Elizabeth Schultz, Mary Morrow and Emma Herold in Gold; Brook Pladsen, Serena Rupert, Sophia Wilbanks and Haley Chmelicek in Platinum; and Anna Penning in Diamond.

VALLEY, STEPHEN WIN CITT TITLES

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - Desdemona Valley and Jaslyn Stephen of Kids First Gymnastics took home tumbling and trampoline titles at the CITT meet last weekend.

Reegan Lueken, Rylee Lueken and Ciara White won trampoline titles, and all placed in tumbling. Morgan Pence won a tumbling gold.
