Iowa State wrestler arrested for alcohol offense

Iowa State University red-shirt freshman Trent Weatherman was arrested early Friday morning for an alcohol related offense by Ames Police. According to the Ames Police Department online arrest report, Weatherman, 21, was arrested at 2:15 a.m. and charged with public consumption.
According to Central Iowa media reports, Ames Police Commander Jim Robinson says an officer spotted Weatherman in Campustown around 2:15, yelling and trying to start a fight with a group of guys. A friend was holding Weatherman back as the officer approached. Robinson says Weatherman didn't initially comply, but was eventually arrested.
Iowa State has not issued a statement yet.
Weatherman competed at 157 pounds for the Cyclones this season. He went 15-15 this season, placing fourth at the Big 12 Conference tournament. Weatherman was a four-time state finalist for Ballard High School, winning the Class 2A 152-pound title as a junior and senior in 2008 and 2009. He compiled a 180-8 record as a prep.
