Iowa State’s Nader arrested
Apr. 13, 2014 6:36 pm
Iowa State forward Abdel Nader has been suspended indefinitely following a late Saturday night arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
A car driven by Nader was observed running a red light at Lincoln Way and Hyland Avenue near campus at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Iowa State Police Sergeant Justin Gatewood said.
Once stopped, Nader, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound junior who sat out last season after transferring from Northern Illinois, showed signs in intoxication, failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, Gatewood said.
Cyclones Coach Fred Hoiberg suspended Nader per the university's student-athlete conduct policy, Matt Shoultz of ISU athletics media relations confirmed in a text message Sunday morning.
Nader led the Huskies in scoring with 13.1 points per game before transferring after the 2012-13 season.
