ISU's OC Herman headed to Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State has hired Iowa State assistant Tom Herman as its new quarterbacks coach under Urban Meyer.
Athletic director Gene Smith confirmed the hiring this morning.
The 35-year-old Herman has served as Iowa State's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach the past two seasons. Herman favors a spread attack, also the preferred offense of Meyer.Herman coached at Rice, among other schools, before coming to Iowa State. Smith said Herman would remain with Iowa State and coach the Cyclones in in the Pinstripe Bowl against Rutgers on Dec. 30.

Iowa State sports information director Tom Kroeschell indicated a release would be coming out late this morning or early in the afternoon.
