According to a news release Tuesday from a member of his team, Cedar Rapids teenager Joey Gase will participate in his second NASCAR Nationwide Series race when he drives a car for Go Green Racing this weekend for the Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. The race will be televised on ESPN2, starting at 2:30 p.m. (Iowa time).
Gase, 18, will team with Go Green Racing for the second time. He made his Nationwide Series debut with that team at Iowa Speedway on Aug. 6, finishing 20th in the U.S. Cellular 250.
Gase is a CedarRapids native, who graduated from Cedar Rapids Xavier in the spring. He became the youngest late model season points champion at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, winning the division in 2009 at the age of 16.
