Ty Dillon makes Nationwide Series debut this weekend

Jun. 2, 2012 2:32 am
Ty Dillon will join older brother, Austin Dillon, for the NASCAR Nationwide Series 5-hour Energy 200 at Dover (Dela.) International Speedway this weekend.
The Dillons are the grandsons of famed auto racing owner Richard Childress. Both have been bright young up-and-comers in the racing world. Austin Dillon won the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series title last year and is a leading candidate for rookie honors in Nationwide this year.
Ty Dillon has made an ever faster rise. He won the ARCA Championship last year at age 19, and is making an impact as a rookie in the Trucks Series. This weekend, he'll be making the jump to the Nationwide Series. Viv Bernstein, a contributor to nascar.com has a nice article on the brothers for this weekend. http://www.nationwide.nascar.com/nationwide-series/news/120601/tdillon-nationwide-debut/index.html
I was able to experience first-hand Ty Dillon's skill in an old Busch Series car at Iowa Speedway last year. Read my account of my ride-along with Ty Dillon, a driver who will quickly be known to NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup fans the next few years.

During the Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway in May, I rode with Austin Dillon in a pace car around the track. I sat in the back and unfortunately it had nothing on the "Little brother's" ride.
