Boys
Linn-Mar 58, Cedar Rapids Jefferson 55
They got away with one, and they know it. But the Linn-Mar Lions aren't going to give it back.
A 58-55 win Tuesday night over Cedar Rapids Jefferson might not have been completely deserved, to tell the truth. The J-Hawks were better for the majority of this game.
But uncharacteristically horrible free-throw shooting from Jeff, and a 10-0 late fourth-quarter run helped Linn-Mar get out of Dodge (or Marion, in this case), with a win. A better feeling overall than this past Friday night, when the Lions lost late at Class 4A fifth-ranked Iowa City West.
Cedar Rapids Prairie 73, 4A No. 7 Cedar Falls 65 (2OT)
Prairie scored the first 11 points of the second overtime to take control and win at No. 7 Cedar Falls.
Kris Murray scored 32 points and Keagan Murray added 15 points for Prairie (7-2).
The Tigers (7-2) had a chance to win at the end of regulation.
Iowa City Liberty 76, 3A No. 9 Dubuque Wahlert 73
The Lightning pulled it out in the final quarter Tuesday night in Dubuque.
Jacob Schockemoehl had 28 points and Cael Schmitt added 23 points for Wahlert (6-4).
Andre Bradon led Liberty (5-5) with 28 points.
4A No. 10 Dubuque Senior 72, Cedar Rapids Xavier 44
The Saints got behind 20-11 after one quarter, and never recovered at No. 10 Dubuque Senior.
Senior (7-2) has now won six straight games. Noah Carter led the Rams with 26 points.
Davis Wagner led Xavier (4-6) with 10 points.
