CEDAR RAPIDS — Not many games played last week, not much movement in the latest Gazette boys' basketball rankings.
It remains the same 10 rated teams in Class 1A and 4A, as a matter of fact. It's the same top 10 altogether in 4A, with North Scott, Waukee, Bettendorf, Sioux City East and Davenport Central, in that order, making up the top five.
North Scott (13-0), Waukee (11-0) and East (12-0) all are unbeaten, though Waukee lost outstanding point guard Noah Hart for a season-ending knee injury last week. East got a last-second layup last week to edge rival Sioux City West by a point and stay undefeated.
The top five in 3A stay the same: Maquoketa, Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Clear Lake, Carroll and Pella, in that order. Fairfield fell out of the ranking, replaced by Davenport Assumption.
Treynor lost its first game of the season last week to Gretna (Neb.) and dropped from second to fifth in Class 2A. North Linn (13-0) remains No. 1, followed by South Hamilton, Boyden-Hull and West Sioux.
The top five in 1A are the same: Grand View Christian, Ankeny Christian, Montezuma, New London and Ar-We-Va. Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton fell from sixth to 10th after losing for the second time this season to Ar-We-Va.
