Metro boys
4A No. 1 Iowa City West 79, Dubuque Wahlert 41
The top-ranked Trojans remained undefeated and tied Palmer's state record with their 79th straight home win.
Seybian Sims led with 21 points, followed by Evan Flitz with 15 points and Patrick McCaffery with 13 for West (8-0).
Peter Timmerman had 13 points to lead Wahlert (2-6).
West's next home game is Tuesday against Linn-Mar.
Linn-Mar 60, Cedar Rapids Kennedy 46
The Lions won the rebounding battle 40 to 22 and upset the 10th-ranked Cougars at Linn-Mar High School.
Trey Hutcheson had 20 points and eight rebounds for Linn-Mar (5-3). Nolan Ruff added 14 points.
Foley had 11 points to pace Kennedy (5-3).
Waterloo West 60, Iowa City High 58
The Wahawks won it in the final minute at Iowa City High.
Antonio Turner had 21 points and Keshawn Christian added 19 points for the Little Hawks (2-6).
Isaiah Johnson had 20 points for Waterloo West (5-3).
Central City 60, Cedar Valley Christian 30
The Wildcats raced out to a 24-7 lead after one quarter in Central City. Nick Reid led CC (5-7) with 16 points.
Kyle Gustafson had 21 points for Cedar Valley Christian (1-10).
Western Dubuque 63, Marion 56
Western Dubuque Coach Dennis Geraghty earned his 500th career win Friday night in Epworth.
Cedar Rapids Prairie 54, 3A No. 4 Cedar Rapids Xavier 51
Whatever the words of motivation were at halftime, Jeremy Rickertsen might want to file them for future use.
Trailing by 26 points at intermission, the Cedar Rapids Prairie boys' basketball coach delivered a simple message – win or lose, there needed to be more effort.
The Hawks proceeded to roar back for a 54-51 victory.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson 63, Cedar Rapids Washington 56 (OT)
They aren't big. They're small, in fact.
But they've got heart.
'Our guys are fighters,' Cedar Rapids Jefferson Coach Brandon Horman said Friday, after his boys outlasted Cedar Rapids Washington, 63-56, in overtime.

4A No. 1 Marion 55, 4A No. 10 Western Dubuque 21
Class 4A top-ranked Marion won a low-scoring battle in Marion.
Marion came in averaging 69.8 points per game, the fifth-highest total in the state, all classes. But the Indians were also giving up just 23.6 points per game defensively.
The Indians (10-0) led 12-5 after a quarter and 28-12 at the half. Chloe Rice led the attack with 14 points.
McKenzie Maahs led Western Dubuque (6-3) with seven points.
5A No. 1 Iowa City High 76, Waterloo West 36
The top-ranked Little Hawks sank 10 3-pointers and won big in Waterloo.
Ashley Joens had 25 points to pace City (10-0). Aubrey Joens had 14 points, Paige Rocca 12 points, Rose Nkumu 11 points and Ella Cook 10 points.
NaTracia Ceaser had 17 points for Waterloo West (5-6).
5A No. 3 Iowa City West 76, Dubuque Wahlert 28
The third-ranked Women of Troy rolled over the Golden Eagles in Dubuque.
Emma Koch had 17 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for Iowa City West (8-2). Lauren Zacharias added 16 points and Cailyn Morgan and Matayia Tellis each added 11 points.
Tracy Krystal had 16 points for Wahlert (3-8).
Cedar Rapids Kennedy 48, Linn-Mar 31
Hailey Dolphin led Kennedy with 19 points.
Macey Miller had 17 points for the Lions in a loss.
Cedar Valley Christian 62, Central City 36
Maggie Cach had 22 points and Molly Hembera added 18 points, shooting a combined 16-of-19 from the free throw line in Central City.
CVC (7-5) shot 21-of-32 overall at the foul line.
Madison Tritle led Central City (4-9) with 13 points.
5A No. 12 Cedar Rapids Prairie 56, 4A No. 11 Cedar Rapids Xavier 30
No extensive analysis needed on this one. Cedar Rapids Prairie made shots, and Cedar Rapids Xavier didn't.
Sid McCrea collected 20 points and five assists, and Class 5A 12th-ranked Prairie shot 56 percent from the floor in a 56-30 non-conference girls' basketball triumph between the Metro rivals Friday night at Prairie High School.

5A No. 14 Cedar Rapids Washington 80, Cedar Rapids Jefferson 61
Chris James didn't raise his voice, just stood on the sideline with his hands clasped behind his back. The Cedar Rapids Washington girls' basketball coach must have known his team his team had a counter-run on the way.
The Warriors sure did, scoring 16 straight points in the final five minutes of the third quarter to finally put away stubborn Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 80-61, Friday night at Washington.
