Progress Iowa's 'Corn Feed,” the advocacy group's annual fundraiser, is coming this summer to Cedar Rapids.
The Democratic presidential candidates have been invited to the event, which has been scheduled for July 14 at the NewBo City Market. The event previously has been held in Des Moines.
This year's event in Cedar Rapids is free to attend, and lunch will be available to purchase.
'Not only will we get to hear from national and local leaders, but this is a great way to get involved with grass roots activism,” Cedar Rapids-area activist Cindy Garlock said in a statement issued by Progress Iowa. 'I'm looking forward to meeting people from across the state who can help us spread the message as we prepare for 2020.”
The presidential candidates also will be invited to Progress Iowa's 'Holiday Party,” its annual winter fundraiser. That event is set for Dec. 19 at Des Moines' Hoyt Sherman Place theater. Tickets for that are $14.
Progress Iowa also announced a series of other events: a guns issues town hall June 12 at Prairie Lights Books in Iowa City; a musical variety show Aug. 8 at Stoner Theater in Des Moines; and a film festival Oct. 16 at Fleur Cinema in Des Moines.
