DES MOINES – After all of the wild finishes in the first two rounds of the Class 3A girls' state soccer tournament, it came down to No. 1 vs. No. 2.
No. 2 Iowa City West (19-2) won its first state title since 2004, topping No. 1-ranked West Des Moines Dowling 1-0.
Below is play-by-play from the match as it happened. Check iowaprepsports tonight for full coverage, including the story, photos and video highlights.

FT: Iowa City West 1, West Des Moines Dowling 0. The Women of Troy are Class 3A state champions.
78' Just because it hasn't been said enough, Steigleder and Cooper are unbelievable players with the ball at their feet. And they're only sophomores.
76' Maroons switch fields perfectly to a waiting Caroline Egan, who shoots it over Ryan ... and straight off the bar.
76' Desperation time for Dowling. Maroons looking to shoot from all over the field, but West isn't allowing much space.
71' Steigleder plays an absolutely beautiful ball to Cooper, who knocks it across the face of goal where it's tapped in by Schmitt-Morris. And in the midst of the celebration, the goal is called off for offside. Dowling still has life.
70' Sarah Kelly finally gets some space in the box, but shoots it over. Women of Troy are 10 minutes away.
67' West actually seems pretty content sitting deep tonight. Dowling hasn't produced anything threatening in almost 15 minutes.
62' West's first real chance of the second half comes on a perfect through ball played by Cooper. Morgan Schmitt-Morris' left-footed shot is tipped over the bar by Day.
59' With West leading in the second half last night, the emphasis was to push up more and not let Johnston back in the game. They're playing pretty deep again here tonight and it's led to Dowling having more of the ball so far this half.
53' Heavy touch on the West back line leads to a turnover. Ryan barely beats Bravard to the ball to stop the threat.
52' Couple corners from Dowling are cleared away fairly harmlessly by West. Think the general feeling here was that this would be a multiple-goal game. We'll see.
47' Cross from Bravard skips by a West defender, but Claire Caligiuri wasn't expecting it to fall to her and can't get a touch on it.
46' Not much doing in the opening minutes of the second half, though Bravard, Dowling's leading scorer, has already tried to be more active.
41' Back underway here in Des Moines. West is 40 minutes away from a state title, but Dowling obviously won't go down easily.
Unofficial Halftime StatsGoals: West 1 (Cooper 25'), Dowling 0
Shots: West 7, Dowling 5
Shots on Goal: West 3, Dowling 1
Corner Kicks: West 2, Dowling 2
Fouls: West 2, Dowling 7

HT: Iowa City West 1, West Des Moines Dowling 0. Rhodes and Cooper connect to put the Women of Troy on top. Maroons trailed Valley 1-0 at halftime yesterday before coming back for a 2-1 victory.
45' Bravard puts a ball in that settles restlessly for a few seconds before Ryan is able to cover it up.
38' A hard challenge leaves Dowling's Riley Bertram on the ground injured for a significant amount of time. She's able to walk off slowly under her own power.
36' Dowling has worked the ball forward a couple times but the final ball has not been good. Sensing some frustration from the top-ranked team.
31' Game has slowed down a bit since that goal. Dowling center defender Marin Daniel has cut out any Women of Troy attacks. Bailey Bravard has taken a couple of speculative shots on the other end.
25' GOAL. Leah Rhodes beats her defender down the line and plays in a perfect cross to Emma Cooper for the finish. Iowa City West leads 1-0.
25' Already some absolutely gassed midfielders out there. Third high-intensity game in three days is taking its toll, which has been a theme today as well as in last week's boys' championship games.
20' Cooper dances around a defender and fires over the bar. West has certainly had the most chances thus far, out-shooting the Maroons 6-1, but it doesn't feel like they're dominating by any means.
15' Emma Cooper gets loose on the right side, jukes by a defender and fires just wide on the near post. Tipped out for a corner that is booted out of bounds.
13' Cross into the box is caught by Ryan just inches before it would have found the head of Bravard for a likely Dowling goal.
9' Payton Pottratz launches a shot from about 25 yards out that is tipped over the bar by Day. This game already has the making of a wide-open, end-to-end style. Should be fun.
6' Bailey Bravard sneaks through to the end line and fires a shot that Caitlyn Ryan reaches down to stop and cover up.
4' Leah Rhodes draws another foul for West. Ball played into the box slips through the hands of Nikkole Day, but she's able to fall on it before it reaches a West foot.
2' Regan Steigleder draws an early foul for West from about 30 yards out. Her shot isn't strong enough.
1' Kickoff, and we're underway on Field 9 at Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines for the 2015 Class 3A girls' state soccer championship. The game is being broadcast live on Iowa Public Television.
